PRESENTED TO THE COUNCIL OF ELDERS OF THE LIGA ON JULY 30th 2010 IN THEIR MEETING TO DISCUSS THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE CAGUANA INCIDENT ON JULY 25, 2010. (English Version)
La Liga Guakia Taina ke presents this evidence to the Council of Elders for the purpose of clarifying the events leading to the Caguana incident. We also present this evidence to safeguard the reputation of our organization, whose only intention was to participate in the Peace and Dignity Journey - Boriken 2010 in an honorable and respectful manner. We were denied that opportunity due to the ambitious and covert agendas of the organizers of the Journey in Boriken. We are in no way involving the Peace and Dignity Journey organizers (Mr. Cerda and Mr. Malvido) in this matter. They are not privy to the facts and the events occurring in Boriken. We want justice and the truth to prevail. We are also concerned with public perception of other Taino organizations, that are working towards social change on the island. Undoubtedly, the behavior and action of the organizers of the Journey in Boirken is unacceptable.
July 30th, 2010 - Centro Naguake - Yabucoa - 1:30pm
The Council of Elders of the Liga Guakia Taina ke (Nuestra Tierra Taina) met in the Naguake Center in Yabucoa to discuss and review the evidence presented by Dr. Melendez, Mr. Cesar Medina, Abuela Yarimari, and Mr. Gamaliel Diaz.
We the Council of Elder make the following recommendation:
That a meeting be held with the participation of the leaders (directors or presidents) of each organization involved in the Caguana incident. At this meeting all parties can review and discuss the evidence presented. During this meeting, Ms. Lugo, Ms. Pastrana and the Elders of these organizations can present evidence refuting the Liga's claim of inappropriate behavior and conduct of the Consejo of Tainos Borincanos and Ms. Pastrana - before and during the Peace and Dignity Journey Boriken 2010.
La Liga strongly advices that Ms. Lugo, Abuela Schachira and Ms. Pastrana attend this meeting, which is to be held at the most earliest convenience for all parties involved in this incident.
In the event of no-response upon receiving the Liga's request for a meeting of all parties involved in the Caguana incident, la Liga will emit its own recommendations based on the evidence presented by Liga members who were present at Caguana during the incident.
A reasonable time to respond to our petition calling for a meeting is seven (7) days, starting on August 2, 2010 and ending on August 9, 2010.
